Read this important letter from Cindy Lucas, ERICSA President 2007, about DRA

Dear ERICSA members and friends,

As you know, the 2005 Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) significantly reduced IV-D program funding by repealing the authority to use performance incentives as match for federal funding; imposing a $25 collection fee for cases in which the state collects $500 or more annually; and, reducing the FFP for parentage testing from 90% to 66%.

For the past several months, ERICSA has been part of a strategic partnership, together with NCSEA, WICSEC, and NCCSD (the IV-D Director's Association). This partnership was formed in order to speak with one voice to improve the program through restoration of these cuts and provide information and eduation on other issues of concern to the child support community. As one of its first tasks, this partnership has developed the attached DRA Quick Facts for Legislators, which is intended for use in educating your Congressional delegation on the impact these cuts will have on the families and children we serve. It contains important information for legislators and requests that Congress restore all funding.

The paper contains a section that can be used to include information on the impact of the cuts on your state and local program. You may also delete this section to focus on the national impact of the cuts.

I hope that you will join ERICSA in this important effort. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Cyndy Lucas, President 2007
Eastern Regional Interstate Child Support Association
