Policy & Legislation
ERICSA is instrumental in improving policies, procedures, practices, laws and regulations that deal with all
aspects of child support. In keeping with its name, ERICSA seeks to focus special attention on the interstate
aspects of child support enforcement through the program support and policy work the Association provides year-round.
ERICSA maintains strong, informal, working relationships with such organizations as:
- American Bar Association (ABA)
- American Public Human Services Association (APHSA)
- Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE)
- National Center for State Courts (NCSC)
- National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA)
- National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)
- National Council of Child Support Directors (NCCSD)
- National Tribal Child Support Association (NTCSA)
- Western Interstate Child Support Enforcement Council (WICSEC)

ERICSA members have testified before various congressional committees. Upon invitation by
the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, ERICSA also participated in
drafting several model Acts, including the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) and
the Uniform Parentage Act (UPA) 2002.
Members of ERICSA were key participants in the Medical Child Support Work Group, and several
ERICSA members continue as state representatives on the current OCSE medical incentive
committee. ERICSA strives to keep the nation focused on the medical support issue and has issued
several resolutions and position papers on this issue.
This year
ERICSA will actively assist States in the implementation of the Deficit
Reduction Act of 2005, especially by analyzing and advising on issues that
may impact interstate case processing.
